While we have made a point of encouraging fellow shareholders to send a proxy for the meeting of the 17th to make sure thier vote counts, we feel we need to make it clear we also ecourage any of you who may be in a position to attend the meeting in person to do so.
It is probably a good idea to always send a proxy for important meetings even if you intend going, just in case something prevents you attending at the last minute and it's not too late to fax a proxy in the morning
As far as we understand it, attending despite having lodged a proxy only means the proxy can not speak on your behalf while you are at the meeting - since many have appointed the Australian Shareholders Association as your proxy, it is unlikely your attendance will preclude the ASA rep speaking. Moreover the ASA rep is a shareholder himself so can seak in his own right anyway.
I am unable to attend myself but would encourage as many members of the company as possible to attend because it will offer encouragement to those who rise and speak against the resolutions. It also gives the opportunity for a more boisterous "here here" to be uttered where appropriate. Moreover, if we have media at the meeting they will take a direct interest in the number of shareholders present and relate it to interest and disquiet amongst shareholders.
So if you can make it please consider ropping in for as long as you can
