"The plunger was gently pushed to generate a vacuum within the syringe and kept in the same position until a blood drop entered the needle. The plunger was gradually pulled to draw the needed blood volume without moving the needle. Then, the blood was withdrawn slowly to prevent the heart from collapsing. The rats were euthanized immediately following blood sampling."
