After reading the text "The Voice recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians. The Voice would constitutionally recognise the unique status and position that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold in Australia as the original occupiers of the Australian continent. This status is not based on race. It is based on the fact that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are Indigenous to this continent. They were here long before British colonisation and are the only group of Australians with a 60,000-year connection to this continent"
Its a ridiculous piece of text really if you think about it - apply that same generic text to another country e.g. England - people would say it's "White" privilege & discriminates against all others that have moved there / imagine if this text was applied to the colonials in some manner
Being here 60k years - Fact not a reason Proud of your culture - Yes/good still not a reason Bad things happened - Yes (same as many culture/people's) - still not a reason Truth telling - OK (All sides need to tell the truth) - still not a reason Facing 21centrury problems - jobs/health/education etc welcome to life/take some responsibility/get educated/heathy/do something about it / move for a job Do we accept new migrants as Australians - Yes (been here 5years/10 Years/50 Years/200 Years or 60K years) don't really care how long you have been here - nobody special, unique or should require special status
