We've seen this kind of clause with previous option and share issues for AAU. It allows AAU to place shortfall shares or options that weren't applied for at the time of the capital raising to other parties who might apply up to 3 months later. It the case of AAUOC options, all of the shortfall options were applied for (and oversubscribed for many more) so the 3 months 'grace period' will not need to be used.

The directors will need to decide how to (fairly) distribute the 76 million shortfall options to the group of share holders who have applied for 426 million shortfall options. The simplest way might be to give everyone about 17% of what they applied for, but it may not be the only way to do it.
