If you want to secure funding, you don't lure interested parties by issuing nice media releases / announcements. You hire an DD advisor to provide an independent view any potential investor could rely on to form an opinion about operations (and finance, and HR, and taxes, and environmental issues, and any other aspect relevant) and put a price against.
Funding something in the region of $200m will need more than retail investors. AGY has never poked into mum & dad as a funding source, hence the low marketing profile compared to peers. The first $30m for the 2ktpa operations in 2020 were issued only to a limited number of qualified investors in a much more troublesome environment. The same will likely happen for the expansion with the benefit of a much more favorable scenario for Li operations due to demand constrains.
In fact, when you see the big boys chipping in, that means the project is viable and someone has run a set of DDs/checks to inform their decision. At this point, we retail will know AGY's tech works for sure. That will happen ahead of the market buying AGY's product because that's the corporate investor hedge on the whole thing. If corporates wait for to long, they be bound to pay premium.
