even though child care is seen as a "necessity" it is heavily staffing dependent and has a number of inputs that are impacted by interest rates and CPI.
my guess is the prevailing wisdom is that the margins for G8 are going to be squeezed irrespective of whether their occupancy increases.
in fact, with government mandated carer child ratios, marginal increase in occupancy can even be a double-edged sword in that if the additional staff member is not utilised at the full ratio it is actually probably cost ineffective to take the additional enrolment until that extra staffer is working at 50-75% utilisation.
all just my assumptions and envelope maths. could be totally wrong.......
