They are clearly separate sentences. A fullstop indicates a new sentence. If the clauses shared a similar topic, they would be split by a comma. It should be obvious that the second sentence you mention is in regards to the announcement, as is suggested by the following run on - 'hopefully more good news to come'.
I would indeed be worried if the type of investors represented here have their financial decisions swayed by a random 20-something yr old on the internet. I do hope that's not the case.
