You are absolutely correct. Mining is a high risk/high reward industry with a long gestation period for project with absolutely no return for the first couple of years when the project is at exploration stage.
In real life scenario, the finance cost is high because of high risk and foreign investors have to take into account the currency exchange rate fluctuations. However, those at the helm of affair at Canberra and their advocates dont understand the e of economics, f of finance or b of business. Maybe, it is time for them to take a quick crash course in finance and economics LOL!
