Your post reminded me of a mate who explained and justified his decision to not buy Gold in Sept 2018 @ A$1,200.
"1. I didn't suffer the fall in March 2020 from $1,64 to $1,500.
2. Then I didn't suffer the fall from August 2020 to March 2021, from $2,32 to $1,700.
3. Then I missed the fall from May to June 2012, of $1,904 to $1,764.
4. And I was lucky not to suffer the fall from March to Sept 2022, from $1,988 to $1,643.
"So," he said. "See how lucky I've been, to not suffer those losses."
Of course, he doesn't buy property either, because of the periodic falls in values.
