At 1234 AEST, the spot price of gold in Sydney was $US1,232.10 per fine ounce, down $US1.81 from Wednesday's closing price of $US1,233.91.
The most traded security by volume was Goodman Group, with 32.87 million securities traded for $22.4 million.
Goodman securities shares were up one cent, or 1.5 per cent, at 68.5 cents.
Market turnover was 1.04 billion securities changing hands for $3.4 billion, with 414 stocks up, 442 down and 354 unchanged.
