From a tax perspective this makes perfect sense. He previously sold shares subject to (concessionally taxed) capital gains to buy a private asset. I would then use my cash flow to borrow funds to buy back in (preferably at a lower price). Interest is tax deductible and part of the cost base is reset.
who knows if CGT concessions will be around in another two years? Irrespectively, good on Mr Williams for backing the company. Cheers Keith
