Not sure about share options but the ASX200/SPI options through SFE are very illiquid and the spreads are often huge. I don't mind as I just use them sparingly for insurance. I could trade the ASX ones as they are not only more liquid but also trade every month rather quarterly, but I don't out of habit.
As for CFDs I don't use the exchange traded (aka ASX listed) ones so I don't know. I use the market maker (aka over the counter) ones like CMC and IGMarkets, and then only when experimenting. The spreads are reasonable during the day.
