"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience-- among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind." "Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God." (1 John 3:7-9 ESV)
Satan, the prince of the power of the air, is the spirit that now works in all the “sons of disobedience”, namely all men and women that are currently disobedient to God. Those who are disobedient to God are biblically referred to as “children of wrath”. Those who make a practice of sinning are referred to as “of the devil”.
So, if you want to find yourself on the right side of history when Christ returns: Repent of your sins and believe in the gospel. Put your faith and trust solely in Jesus Christ, not in the things of the world. Then walk in newness of life, being spiritually reborn by the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
"What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:1-4 ESV)
