In regard to uncertainty I illustrate this with an actual event. I was asked by someone I know whether they should lapse a life policy on their ex. I thought long and hard and on balance said no. The Ex passed away - Had I said yes they would be substantially out of pocket.

Here they wind up and say ASIC get a result - then shareholders say if only we waited until after the ASIC court case. Its timing - I think you have to let it run.

For the rest its interesting you refer to an index fund - of course they are the go too ideas these days. however they have not always been and in fcat they may not be in the future. We clearly have different views on this.
