When the stupid LNP pre-select a 20yo, Wyatt Roy, for marginal(!) Longman, a wet-behind-the ears kid, and present him to the electorate as someone who has the wisdom, acumen and experience in life to effectively represent them in parliament, then I would not blame voters for responding to such an insult by voting Labor.

I mean the kid is just out of high school.

I want someone I can ring up and intelligently discuss a problem or query with.

Someone mature who can put some life-experience and judgement into the execution of his duties as a representative of people. Parliament is serious stuff, not a game.

The kid may be savvy, he may well be a future PM for all I know, but let him get a life-education first before throwing him in at the deep end, and insulting voters by saying "we know you will vote along party lines, so it does not matter who we put up". We want to give him some "exposure" at your expense. Yeah, right. Get real!

Thumbing your nose at the electorate like that is VERY, VERY dangerous politically, especially at an intense time when every seat counts so much.

Excellent chance of a voter backlash, and I don't mean with whips, although that is not impossible.

Get your act together Liberals better than that if you want to govern !!

Offering up geeky 20yo's as serious MP's is just reckless stupidity.... not to mention arrogance.

It lets down the electorate, fellow MP's and all the others who work hard to get you across the line.

If you cannot do better than that, or are totally without talented candidates, then you demonstrate a disconnect with the Australian people and you deserve to lose to the brilliant Labor strategists who really know how to plan a battle's campaign, even if they can't run a country or chook raffle.
