The current Bank of England base rate is 5%.
It was increased by 0.5 percentage points on 22 June 2023, the 13th consecutive rise recorded since December 2021.
The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted to increase the rate in response to inflation remaining at a stubbornly high level. It is currently at 8.7%, which is well above the Bank's target of 2%.
