One contributing factor is that WOW invested in technology far more than COL.
The latter has tried to play catch-up, but only on WOW's site can I see whether a particular supermarket has various items in stock. It isn't 100 per cent correct - ranged goods can sell out, or there may be other data errors - but it's way ahead of COL.
