June 20 High-profile stockbrokers Tony Davis and Mark Gray tendered their resignations at mid-tier stockbroker Shaw and Partners after market close on Tuesday, with fingers pointing towards plans to set up a rival shop.Street Talk.
Sources said Gray, Davis and his son Jarrod Davis would lift a team of about 10 from Shaw and Partners’ ranks, which together printed $30 million in commissions for the 2022 financial year.
It’s theoriginal coterie that crossed over from Bell Potter in June 2017 to Shaws, towing along a string of fund manager and company relationships worth $8 million a year in fees.
The trio was well-liked by fund managers and built its team to be a key profit centre for Shaw and Partners. Their departure is a setback for Shaws, which would now have to see its institutional corporate team compete with its soon-to-be former employees’ new business.
