@Parsifal; on our last visit to France in 2018 we witnessed multiple instances of teams of Police chasing people through the streets of Paris including: . Place de la Concorde, . Parks & gardens near the Louvre, . Sacre Coeur District.
Police appeared to be targeting vendors, people of colour and those desperate enough to beg for food from tourists such as ourselves [one pinched my wife's salad roll leading Police to follow her into ladies loo to ask if she wanted to pursue the matter - she didn't].
Our experiences indicate that Macron is NOT addressing the root causes of France's recent protests, indeed his decision re increasing the age for accessing 'The Pension' appears to be a catalyst for what's happening. Until he does so France's underlying problems will fester and putrify.
