To all. Gallium and Germanium are critical to high speed and power products in the solid state industry. There is a major was going on for about 2 years in all the IC industry. Most recently the US and several other counties cut off the exporting of any new IC info to Japan. They cut off All equipment sales to China to make them. China makes no equipment capable of doing any thing lower than 2 microns. This is a major blow to their manufacturing since they do not have the ability to manufacture the highest density ICs or any thing new without this equipment. This equipment is not easy to design or build. China will copy or do there own design I am sure but it could be several years at minimum. Their response is stopping the only thing they make that the US needs. Gallium will hurt the EV market since it is critical for handling the power and speeds needed in the motor control circuits, This might realy choke the EV market. Price is not the problem so little is needed, it is not being able to make the components. Yes they could go back to silicone, but it would be slower and much less efficient from a power efficiency standpoint.
This is not about rare earths it is about ICs it has been going on for over a year. It is in response to America and other countries cutting off the supply of equipment to make ICs. could it move to rare earths possibly but the REE market is a fraction of the $ volume of ICs.How does a trade war on IC equipment and basic materials indicate a heat up in REE?
Do you think there is any restrictions in NDPR after looking at this chart? Yet another up-ramper searching for anything to boost Lynas SP when there is little. Up nicely in last two days but let's see what happens with Q4, AR and Q1 report are released. My guess up for a day or two on AL sales job then down.![]()
