I noticed that there was a comment yesterday that only core plug compaction tests are destructive. Not so, often we conduct mercury injection capillary pressure tests MICP, which are also destructive, unlike other cap pressure methods such as the porous plate method and the centrifuge method. MICP can provide useful information on core plug pore size distribution, and can inject mercury into the smallest pore throat diameters (nanometre scale) if the injection pressure is high enough (60,000 psi).
