Everybody is expected to abide by the law, that includes indigenous folk. There's plenty of cultures calling Oz home that have had to leave their traditions behind due to being not acceptable in this country ie female genital mutilation, under age marriages and multiple wives. I cut the first australians some slack because they are not in a position to integrate by a long shot. Some of their customary activities I have zero problem with such as smoking ceremonies, welcome to country, hinting turtles and dugong in some areas, etc etc. There's a lot of aboriginal culture which is not accepted such as pay back with spearing, the slicing of young males chests to prove manhood . etc etc. Is it conservative? maybe it is? maybe it's not? You could also argue it's socialist?
