Ive changed my views many times over the years,..one of the best ways is to get into conversations with people with opposing views...dont have to change my mind totally but enough to keep it open
Experts get it wrong especially when it comes to modelling and forecasting Ive learnt and the further rou the modelling goes obviously the worse they get, look at the weather, the rba or economists for example, so with this type of science i think its good to be reasonably open minded to others opinions.
The other thing is often when people want to get their point across theyll use extremes of argument, you know by x date if somethings not done x will happen. They might do it to create a level of urgnecy which works in the short term but then longer term gives critics ammunition to discount the argument.
They are some reasons why i think its good to be a little sceptical and open minded
I suspect scientists like economists are also subject to group think....
