One of the advantages of the 'wide two wheel' design is that there is no differential required. I didn't elaborate previously, but the 'primitive dowel' I referred to is actually a loose fit on the drivers side. The steering wheel is linked to a cam which pushes the axle forward and backwards in the frame on the drivers side that induces the turning moment in the chassis.
