I think at least some of the heat came from:
- Comparing a technically complex, proprietary piece of equipment with a low-tech, interchangeable, inexpensive, bulk consumer item.
- Implying that the allocation of an NSN had little or no influence on whether would be ordered, whereas it would seem that it would be at least a little bit easier for a procurement officer to order from DroneShield than it would be to send a couple of guys down to the local hardware store in a truck to grab a batch of home brand anti-drone devices off the bargain table. We would presume that said procurement officer would have to show that the generic devices were fit for purpose and would stand up to use in the field.
So I think that Mr Wilson should accept that he is at least partly responsible for the tone of the responses he received.
