I recently listened to an interview with Jim Chanos a famous short seller. He was asked what is the best way for a company to deal with short seller research/attack? He answered that one of the best responses he saw was Netflix, and that the company addressed every point raised by the short seller and explained why the company disagreed, that was it. On the flipside emotional and/or litigious responses are the worst response and often another red flag in itself.
