Thanks @rusty02, I have had a similar experience. I use CMC and the whole process only took about 15-20 mins for 3 accounts and it was all electronic. I think it was only initially difficult as it was new and I had to do a little bit of research on how to fill out the forms along the way.

My SMSF (W-8BEN-E) was a little trickier than the personal accounts, but I found this helped - https://www.macquarie.com.au/assets/bfs/documents/adviser/macquarie-wrap/W8BENE-guide-entity.pdf
Skip through to page 13 or 17, depending on the SMSF structure (individual or corporate).

With a bit of googling it appears that most of the major banks and platforms make it easy to get the forms filled out. Hope this helps
