The main bearing is that it denotes that there is little confirmed clinical evidence that canaloplasty is superior to trabeculectomy. The current gold standard is still trabeculectomy for glaucoma.
There has been a clinical trial performed comparing TE vs CP, and it has been determined that while TE was less safe, it demonstrated superior efficacy. This study was completed back >10 years ago, but I'm not sure if there has been any updates comparison trial..
I am a holder, but I want to provide a balanced view of how much market penetration canaloplasty has.
