Some are surprised that Labor ran a candidate at all to contest this by-election. If the incumbent had died or resigned for health reasons they probably wouldn't have run. Reports that Labor expect the gains they made last election in the seat to be reversed. Amusingly one reason given that some LNP voters might be relieved that Stuart Robert is no longer their candidate. Apparently the AEC have been running ads and contacting voters because the pre-poll turnout has been lower than usual. Suggestions of voter apathy.
