Any open market transaction trying to secure control of the company would drive the price up much higher.
The trading volume of about 13m ADRs on the top trading day is misleading - as onesurfed said, almost half was shorted volume and the remainder would have been a merry-go-round of a certain number of shares.
At either stock exchange, even relatively small orders can drive the price a good amount.
