Yes, you're right that Talga has gone about it the correct way. Mining 6 months out of the year is a large concession that shows consideration and respect to the Sami. The courts in Sweden take this into account and value acts like this, look no further than Kaunis Iron reducing their production plan from 20 to 10 million tons: "... something that the Land and Environment Court cites as a reason for approving the environmental permit."

I understand that your post is sympathizing with the Sami and trying to see it from their view, but unfortunately by doing this your post becomes emotional, similar to the hysterics we see on the NIMBY facebook page.

For example, mentioning the relocation of Kiruna. That has nothing to do with the green transition. The move has been planned since 2004 and the city only exists because it was built to serve the iron ore mine.

I won't speak for the rest of the EU, but Norrbotten has a major issue with their population declining. Therefore, new industry will bring new workers, pumping blood back into the populace. Another positive.

As for heavy machinery, noise, biodiversity etc. these are all subjects that will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the environmental courts. The process for permitting will become more efficient, but the standards for environmental approval will not be dropping.

If we remove the emotion, it's unrealistic to think that a society won't advance itself. The Sapmi land is beyond vast, meaning herding and the green transition are able to coexist, especially if companies follow Talga's approach.
