Many do not worry about shorters. In fact many, as part of thorough research - understanding the fundamentals, analysing the technical indicators and understanding the dynamics around the environment - potential announcements, market liquidity, short position, retail v fund manager ownership and drivers, utilise the short position (and changing short position) to assess how the share price may or may not change (dramatically or otherwise) to any material event.
It creates opportunity!
It changes the risk -reward dynamic.
It is naive to ignore it, it is ridiculous to continually complain about it, it is sensible to be cognisant of it.
