The problem with that line of thinking is that batteries will be interchangeable in the not too distant future imo. Think of your typical AAA batery. It used to be alkaline, then Ni-Cad and now Li-ion. The ones used in a Tesla are simply large banks of numerous cells all connected. The ability to change from one battery type to another will not be as big a leap as many believe.
Only my opinion but time will tell.
