Hi everyone. I'm new to the SQ2 postings on HC and my apologies in advance for asking this question as I assume it's been discussed and answered many times.
When my APT shares were converted into SQ2 shares, how should this be treated for tax purposes? Does the ATO see this as a sale of my APT shares? What was my cost base for the SQ2 shares? If I sold the SQ shares say for $100 each, what is my capital loss? All I know for sure is that I purchased about $10k of APT, it was converted to SQ2 for a lot less than $10k, then sold SQ2 for much less than $10k.
I know the best way for me to get my answers is to go directly to a tax specialist. And I may end up doing just that.
But any tips, points in the right direction, answers from the HC community will be taken in the good spirit hey are provided and I know it's no substitution for proper tax advice.
Thanks in advance!
