I mean, you don't need to own something to come to the conclusion it's junk in your eyes.
A test drive, talking to your mates who do own one, etc can give you a pretty good position.
Imagine you're a tradesman who parks on the street and tows a trailer every single day to work.
If that's your use case, then every single EV could be considered "junk".
And comparing the shift from ICE to EV in the same league as the shift from horse and cart to the automobile is hollow.
It's in no where even close to the technological advancement as that leap. We've been putting electric motors into vehicles for a century, and governments never mandated you couldn't buy a new horse and cart.
