Don't sweat the small stuff

Because most people are traders rather than investors, most posts deal with short term issues that are likely to impact on the price in the near term. Nothing wrong with that. However, concerns with minor issues and matters of opinion tend to divert attention from the factual data from which assessment of managerial capability and value are derived.
For instance, confidence in my long-term investment in NCK is based on the following fundamentals:
NCK has the same number of shares on issue today as it had 12 years ago; meaning its growth has not required the hat to be passed around for shareholder contributions. During this period EPS has progressively increased from 14 cents per share to 92 cents in 2022, while dividends have increased every single year from 9 cents in 2011 to 76 cents in 2022. No other stock on the ASX has such an enviable record.
What might happen next week or next year, and matters such as interest rates, inflation and immigration, while admittedly important to traders, is of minimal concern to the long-term investor. I am comforted by the fact that the exceptional long-term business performance has proven the soundness of management.
