After being scarred by the West Gate Bridge Disaster about ten kms from where I was living at the time and its impact on so many workers / families / businesses / communities; I readily admit to being concerned about worker safety and risk:reward - I've even been a construction worker myself and experienced firsthand how quickly and easily things can go wrong.
Add to that decades of responsibility for the safety, well-being and lives of students, staff and parents in public schools and it's fair to say my views on OHS are front of mind.
