@pow4ade; during my time in leadership positions in Victorian public schools any allegations of assault by staff against students were treated with the utmost importance and urgency - principals were required to immediately notify the Legal Services Unit which then determined what had to be done - step by step, fully documented, staff provided with support including access to union reps etc.
All of what you listed in your post was determined by the LSU - principals were not in a position to deviate from what they prescribed.
Basically, until parents were able to do so principals had to ensure the safety of students - any teacher alleged to have assaulted a student would normally have been immediately removed from face-to-face duties pending follow up processes.
Fifty years ago the VED had the dubious track record of just forcibly moving alleged offenders to other locations. When I retired they were more likely to be suspended pending formal investigations. In one case a teacher who was convicted and incarcerated was released years later when the student withdrew her allegations.
The underlying principle was a simple one, any student claiming to be a victim was supported and their allegations regarded as credible - nothing like what we've seen with Brittany Higgins' rape allegations.
