Most stocks fall after a consolidation. It's not the panacea you seem to think it is. And when it does what then?
The buyback adds 'ultimate shareholder value' by its very nature so what you are saying is incorrect. You rate it as ineffective because you (and others) have unrealistic expectations on what it is supposed to do.
