Fifty years ago the VED had the dubious track record of just forcibly moving alleged offenders to other locations.
Just like private schools did. Yet when the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse subpoenaed the various state education departments they dogged it, claiming lost or missing records, or even asserting the Commission didn't have jurisdiction in state matters.
Hence not one government school appeared before the RC despite teaching 75% of Australian students. It was as if there were no teaching predators in state schools. Yet religious and private schools fully complied with the RC subpoenas by producing historical records.
