I was watching a program recently that showed an Australian software engineer who had developed software that enabled one of the NY stock brokers to identify and execute a trade within milliseconds of the parcel of shares being placed on the market.
I assume that the major brokers have similar software here. So when, for example, 40,000 NEU shares might come into play, they are immediately snapped up - we never get to see them in the offer column because they are never there long enough to be seen.
