The did not “let” the price drop. A buy back cannot be used to prop up a sp. That would be so manipulation which would be highly illegal.
Don’t forget one of the biggest recent sp moves was when a retail shareholder dumped 60m shares at market and wiped out multiple bid lines.
If the bb was not sitting there with associated bids the damage would have been way worse.
