Peabody's view of a 30 year coal supercycle being in the early stages gave me a chuckle. The rest of the world outside of Asia are trying to penalise the use of fossil fuel yet the much bigger countries in terms of population like China and India apparently will be soaking up vast more quantities of coal. Interesting. If this is so then we will be in a very fortunate position of taking advantage of the boom in prices at least for a while. This includes other commodities of course as those countries continue to expand and grow. This will be good for our markets and makes me wonder if the super bearish calls of the likes of Prechter may still come to pass for the US but we will escape most of the carnage thus finally breaking away for the US ties and hanging on the coat tails of Asian countries. I hope so. It means we can trade for a long while even if the US markets fall so far they become almost useless to trade due to lack of liquidity and volatility. Sounds all right to me!
