At 0730 AWST (0930 AEST) on Saturday 29 July 2023, AZJ's new "second" weekly intermodal train from Perth to Melbourne is crossing the 'Indian Pacific' Sydney-Adelaide-Perth transcontinental passenger weekly service at Southern Cross, 400 kilometres or so east of Perth.

Good to see AZJ's TGE contracted trains keeping the early reputation for good punctuality intact, as this train isn't due to depart Kalgoorlie until 1610 AWST mid to late afternoon for the 24 hour trip across the Nullarbor, and later down to Adelaide and eventually Victoria Dock, Melbourne.

When many businesses introduce new divisions (or in AZJ's case, reintroduce one albeit under different arrangements), there's usually teething problems. Perhaps there have been, but timeliness is a measure one can see, and this seems to be doing well.
