'Market Focus' in the US this evening

"Seasonal and holiday distortions are likely to limit the impact of jobless claims, turning the focus on manufacturing. Downturns in the industrial production or Philadelphia Fed reports could raise questions over the economy's strongest sector." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]

'Market Reflections' from previous session (14.07.2010)

"Forget about earnings. Wednesday was not a good day for economic data. Retail sales fell for a second straight month, making April's strength a distant memory. Business inventories rose but not business sales which, together with the retail sales data, point to a quick end to what little inventory building there's been. The FOMC is the third point in Wednesday's triangle, downgrading their economic forecasts to show slowing growth. The news hit one by one and finally eroded optimism from this week's strong reports by Alcoa and Intel. The Dow ended little changed at 10,366 while the dollar index fell 0.4 percent to 83.72. Demand for the safety of Treasuries once again turned higher with the 30-year yield down 8 basis points to 4.03 percent. Commodities were little changed as were currencies."
