Looks like the Bio chip design and use cases are being mapped out with speed.
- Testing for multiple diseases - with one chip
- Extend the life time of the device with re- usable bio sensors. As also explained here, the biosensors can be re tuned from one detection job to another target.
- Software is progressing towards automated data analysis, in other words high quality data from these sensors. I'm particularly interested in this because it gives end users a product that can generate the data they need, while also detecting and fine tuning the detection. All of these data points can be fed into further end user designed, proprietary AI algorithms that suit the end user specifically. Very large data sets are no longer necessary or used in bio tech these days because of ethical and privacy concerns. Instead a sample, a starting set is all that's needed to generate a synthetic set of data for research purposes. Saves a great deal of time. The End Users play the bigger role here with the data the biochip detects. Only domain experts can sift through data and identify the bio markers/ data points that's of use to them in their specialised fields of research.
This lab on a chip is geared towards detection of relevant biomolecules to aid in useful and quicker data analysis to aid the research into not just diagnosing but more importantly early detection and prevention of disease.
- the multiplex biochip has also been sent to a separate foundry , an entire 4 in sample wafer of it will be available for AXE to embed in its platform by end of year. A few more hardware design refinements will be necessary to house the chip. After which end users I think will be given the basic API drivers for it which they can build on with other machine learning algorithms to suit their research.
Recently Mo said that point of care is not what this chip is designed for, it's designed for lab use and now it's becoming clear that it's designed for medical labs and path labs to develop very capable, powerful and quick data analysis tools. I for one am super impressed with this path. These are the behind the scenes use cases that are not always apparent to the market, but then suddenly become the backbone of modern health. All in my opinion of course, and I wish AXE and all of us a clear path to end use and rapid take up when the product comes to fruition.
