Haha. Can't say I've heard that expression before.
I have to say I don't think SAMR is any more unfair than the FDA process in USA. The USA formula market is still a monopoly and, even after the formula shortages, the FDA process and anti-competitive tariff system is geared towards preserving this monopoly.
On the whole, there are more hoops to jump through to gain access to the USA market than there are for China. It just happened that a window opened up and BUB capitalised on this. In hindsight, had they not, it seems as though they would have gone under. So very lucky indeed.
However, I'm tired of hearing about how badly done by Bellamy's was. As a former BAL shareholder and class action claimant, people seem to have forgotten that just how poorly managed BAL was. They also sourced a lot of their formula ingredients from other parts of the world, which probably meant traceability was harder to demonstrate for SAMR purposes. I am not saying their weren't politics involved but there were genuine barriers too.
