Vinnie, not much processing of minerals is done in WA, aside from gold (which is simple), nickel smelting (simple), alumina (which Western Mining JV'd from Alcoa) and magnetite beneficiation. Magnetite has been a problem but both FMG and Gindalbie now do it de rigeur. Lynas with its Kalgoorlie crack/smelt will be interesting to watch but they have done more complex work in metal separation in Malaysia. More adventurous processing should follow. I once did a rough calc that most projects, even the simple ones, reach 140% (roughly) of initial budget and roughly the same in time. As always, specifics count.
I had a laugh today reading an old STA announcement where their "luck" was in being "close" to port in Geraldton. Just as well they are not far away!
