Of course they want progress, they want to be able to cut China off at the knees and dismantle the virtual monopoly that they have on rare earths which will be an essential component of the green/renewable energy revolution.
There’s tremendously high stakes on offer here and the strategic implications are enormous for the entire western world who can’t afford to allow China the ability to strangle the supply of these essential minerals. The Pentagon has had people running around the globe for years now trying to find a reliable supply of high quality rare earths that aren’t under Chinese control.
It would be hugely important for Australia if the Esperance rare earth regions could be proven to economically supply high grade rare earths long term.
