Seeing as though big brother is watching us constantly on the roads the chances of being caught doing something wrong has increased expotentially but the point system and penalties have only gotten stricter, this would be a fairer set of penalties IMO.

1 to 5 over the speed limit.....first offence every year only a warning and no fine issued, second and subsequent offence fine only and no derimit points

6 to 12 over the limit....fine and one derimit point

13 to 20 over the limit...fine and two derimit points

21 to 30 over the limit...fine and three demit points

31 to 40 over the limit...fine and five derimit points

41 and over instant license suspension/cancellation.

Same should also apply to red light cameras, the elapsed time should play a part in determining the penalty, I got done for turning right in the CBD supposedly 1 second after the lights turned red, I was travelling less than 10 klms per hour at the time and looking at the cars ahead slowly turning and not looking at the lights at that instant, is this the same offense as someone running the red light at speed 4 or 5 seconds after the lights turned red, the penalties for both offences are the same, one is intentional and dangerous the other isnt.

    cheers grant
